We’ve all done this once or twice: you see an ad that calls to you, as a wedding photographer, to make more sales. Whether it’s specific to a social media platform, or just a vague call for sales… something hits you at that moment. You buy the course and just feel like everything’s about to change for you! And then… you forget about it. But can wedding photography courses help, really?
There are so many courses for wedding photographers out there that it can be hard to know which one is right for you. Many come with a lack of credibility backing them up, and a lot are information you can easily Google. It can be difficult to know which one will actually help you, and which one is a waste of money.
Some wedding photographers may not be the best people to teach you how to grow your business, because their businesses may not be all that grown themselves. You may have to do some digging, but you can find out if the person selling the course has a real business, and how much experience they have in the field. If you can, look at their portfolio of work and see if it resonates with you. Do they have a good reputation? How about reviews on their work, or even on their course?
Many courses for wedding photographers will have a short course you can take to get a feel for what they are offering. This may be a free webinar, a Facebook group, or even blog content. Others may have email series or mini-courses that are given out as a complimentary taste of what they know. Consume the content the creator is already offering before you buy.
It can be easy to impulse-buy from an ad you see on Instagram or Facebook. However, you should understand what it is you’re missing first. If you have a great reach on Google as-is, do you really need an SEO course? Think about what’s missing in your business, and go from there. And hey, if it’s just “leads” in general – there are tons of courses on the different methods to generate business.
As a team of virtual assistants for wedding photographers, we have to mention a course that has majorly impacted our clients and our business: Ben Hartley’s ‘Booked Solid’. Ben is a master at online marketing for creative businesses. Not only does he offer the Booked Solid course, but you can easily find his credibility through his podcast, his business, and his course reviews. We highly recommend this wedding photography course for booking out your calendar!
Our advice before you buy any course is to research, research, and research some more. Take a look at the creators of the course, the reviews, and their credibility. You’ll also want to be sure the content is something you want to invest your time in. As a virtual assistant for wedding photographers, we’re always honest if we think something will be worth it for our clients.
